My Story

As a Clinical Physiotherapist, I completed my Bachelors in Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney. Unlike a lot of people, I actually loved the so-called Uni lifestyle, perhaps due to the mouth-watering Calamaris sold at our cafeteria or maybe it was my relaxed, stress-free personality. When I was studying, I always knew I wanted to be a sports Physiotherapist, due to my strong background in sports. Growing up, I was that kid who played anything and everything, as long as you could call it a sport. During my study years, I volunteered as a student Physiotherapist for many high ranked state league football clubs in NSW. However, when I graduated, my first job as a qualified Physiotherapist came in the form of a Residential Aged Care Physiotherapist followed by being a NDIS and Community therapist. Initially I did not see myself working in these sectors for a long period of time due to my strong interest in anatomy and sports, pushing me to pursue a career in the sporting world. However, with time, I grew more passionate about the Aged Care, NDIS, and the Community sectors, and realised these are the fields where the need for a genuine therapist and care is unparalleled to any other field of Physiotherapy. My profession has taught me many things but that one thing I would like to share with you is, happiness comes from giving someone what they do not have, HELP.

I love being that person who makes every client feel important because to me they are. I remember about a year ago, one of my clients who had just turned 83, said to me “your presence gives me comfort”, hearing that gave me goosebumps and made me realise, my job is an experience that I am blessed with every day and one that is transforming me into a more caring and competent clinician.

When people ask me, “what do you do for work?”, I get excited because I know not a lot of people can reply and say, “I help people live longer”.

I have been in the aged care industry for nearly 6+ years now and working with community and NDIS participants face to face for 2 years and I can confidently say, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time thus far. Furthermore, I have had the privilege of managing Allied Health teams in many different Aged Care Facilities and also had the privilege of being a clinical educator, providing training to staff to ensure the care needs of participants are always met. In addition, My exposure to a range of different healthcare settings including private practice, private and public hospitals, community settings and the disability sector, has added a lot to my ability to see every client at an individual level and to deliver a service that is uniquely tailored to their needs. At Health Durability, our aim will always be to put you first.

I personally believe, to make a positive change, you must be driven, not only by your team or management, but by your inner motivation and passion for your work. Australia is well known for its aging population and the disability sector and in my opinion, to be a part of the process of keeping our elderly and NDIS participants as healthy, happy and independent as we can, is the greatest work of art a human can do. Every single client is a human being who deserves to be treated with respect and dignity and we can only treat them that way if we listen and understand them.

Let’s make a positive difference in a world where it is needed most.
